Wairoa Stream: Ready for planting day

UPDATE: - The wet weather has meant that the ground will be too wet this Sunday. The planting has been rescheduled to the next expected fine day - Tuesday, 28 June.

Nortthland Excavators have been busy preparing the ground for the public planting day on Sunday. This will be the 4th year of planting alongside the Wairoa Stream.

I dropped by on Monday and snapped the following pictures of the newly cleared ground and the area that has been previously planted that leads to the new planting site. There was only a little removal work still to be done.

If you have some free time on this coming Sunday morning (26h June) please come along with your sharp spade and help to get the 1,000 plants into their new home. Planting will take place between 9 am and 12:30pm. Park at the car park by Cobham bridge (on Cobham Road 100 metres past the The Turner Centre) and walk up stream 250 metres to the planting site on the bank adjacent to Sammaree Reserve.
