Council has approved the construction of a new bridge from Sammaree reserve to Campbell Lane.

During April the first steps were taken in it's construction with Rotary Kerikeri and Friends of Wairoa Stream combining to mix and pour the concrete foundations. The steep terrain was a little challenging for the ageing wheelbarrow brigade but all managed to retain control of their barrow loads and not end up in the stream.

The bridge is expected to be completed before summer.
