Kapiro Rd speed limit: Petition to get this reduced to 70kph

Vision Kerikeri wrote to the Far North District Council in 2017 outlining the reasons why the 100kph speed limit on Kapiro Rd was no longer appropriate. You can read the reasoning in our article at that time.

Five years later, the speed limit remains the same. In 2019 speed limits were reviewed for roads West of SH10 (we again raised the issue of Kapiro Rd) but residents of Kapiro Rd (and other increasingly busy roads) east of SH10 still face the dangers of speed limits that are no longer appropriate after many years of housing and commercial development.
